Partnerships & Projects

Our projects mirror our goals to advance economic & community development in Native American Communities and increase financial self-sufficiency and intergenerational wealth in Native American families.

Native Home Ownership

We promote the growth and development of Native Americans of Wisconsin through the expansion of home ownership among tribal members/descendants who reside on or near Wisconsin Indian Reservations by assisting them in financing/purchasing of decent, safe, sanitary, affordable housing.

We are a HUD-Certified Counseling Agency that offers Homebuyer Education, our own lending products as well as brokering multiple other mortgage products.  As an NMLS (Nationwide Mortgaging Licensing System) organization, we operate with a philosophy of helping a homebuyer find the ‘right fit’.

We support projects that convert Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) rentals to home ownership.

We spearhead the Wisconsin Native Homeownership Coalition which is a coalition of stakeholders with similar goals, values, and interests in the Native Housing industry.  The coalition provides an environment of collaboration, a forum to address common challenges & barriers and to share resources and support.  This serves to improve lender & investment engagement on Tribal Trust land and the capability of each participating organization.

Wisconsin Indigenous Economic Development Corporation (WIEDC)

WIEDC is a membership organization currently consisting of four governing Native Community Development Financial Institution (NCDFI) members: First American Capital Corporation, First Nations Community Financial, Wisconsin Native Loan Fund and Woodland Financial Partners.  Each NCDFI offers a suite of financial products and development services providing education, technical assistance and financial coaching to build the financial capacity of their clients and to support the successful use of their loan products.  The goal of this coalition is to create greater economic impact within the State by grouping and complimenting the work each NCDFI in the group does/offers.

Wisconsin Indigenous Economic Development Corporation (WIEDC, formerly known as Wisconsin Indian Business Alliance) is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation originally created in 2018 became a legal entity in 2022.

State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI)

The SSBCI program was created to strengthen state programs that support private financing to small businesses with the intent to create billions of dollars in lending and investments to small businesses that are not getting the support they need to expand and create jobs.  WINLF supports entrepreneurship, small business development and growth and serves a population that has been historically underserved in this regard.  Our goal in participating in this initiative is to partner with the Tribes and the State to support the clients/constituents they serve and to be a resource.  WINLF’s role in this program is to assist with individual Tribal program design, provide capital match, underwrite, originate and service loans, and do reporting.
